Giving Kids a Goal

This past week I spent time with over 100 youth from all parts of the country and beyond. Some of those were sad, broken kids, some had poor home lives. Yet they all responded well. They were supposed to paint using only their fingers, which took some curage. We provided the colors white, blue and yellow and asked the kids to create as many green tones as possible. Very quickly every one of them was deeply focused on their task. It was a joy to watch!

One student’s work. As you can see, students mixed orange hues following the greens.
