Gynca, a charitable organization provides all manner of support to local women affected by gynecological cancers.
During their annual fundraiser I was painting a piece inspired by the story of one of their women clients. Since I was able to share the inspiration details with the audience, this painting brought in double it’s retail value during the auction. I was extremely pleased with this outcome, since 96% of monies raised goes directly to their support programs.

Debbie documented her journey in a Facebook blog. Though I had never met her personally, I took inspiration from these stories.
She was always very upbeat in the face of her many hurdles. She put humorous twists on not so humorous situations.
She had a bunny rabbit, a stuffed bunny rabbit named Walker, who was her constant companion. Walker is shown in the lower right background and a smaller version in the top right corner.
Debbie had designed a book cover for publication of her story. And I took elements from this book cover design. Those are reflected in the butterflies and the flowers on the lower left and upper right.
You see a teal ribbon swinging diagonally across the whole painting. Gynca’s chosen color.
The dominant color for this painting is teal green in the lower right, moving across the canvas to yellow and white.
These color choices reflect life to eternal life.
